Sleep is … characterized by … surroundings [not rotting]
Found Compositions
Exhibition from July 03rd – July 12th, 2026.
“Sleep is … characterized by … surroundings [not rotting]” artistically negotiates the place of sleep. Years of engagement with the artist’s own sleeping places culminate in three overnight stays in the exhibition space, producing three new sites of sleep.
“Found Compositions” is a format in which found situations are negotiated as compositions through spontaneous, associative combinations of photography and text, guided by a predefined set of rules, and are thereby artistically appropriated. This approach has resulted in a series comprising more than 300 such combinations.
Florian Sorgo is a visual artist working between Vienna and Rottenmann. He studied Transmedia Art with Brigitte Kowanz at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, as well as Philosophy in Vienna. Alongside his independent artistic practice, he is part of the group SELTEN and the Graz-based art association RHIZOM.
