Inner Entourage – Spectrum of Liminal explores how two distinct yet conceptually intertwined artistic practices create spaces for communication with non-visible realms by understanding, translating, and materializing spiritual experiences. The exhibition juxtaposes the complex relationships between these forces, where mythological landscapes and contemporary reality coexist in dynamic, ever-evolving tension. Here, the relationship between material practice and metaphysical experience holds equal importance to the understanding of art as a form of devotion. Both artists engage sensory perception in non-traditional ways, looking inward to connect the conscious, unconscious, and intellectual realms within their bodies. This intertwining of inner territories illuminates the continuing relevance of spirituality in the art of a secular society.

 

 

Gabriela Těthalová is a Czech painter based in Prague. The physical aspect of painting is central to her practice, with large formats serving as records of bodily engagement. Her work combines conceptual thinking with intuitive spontaneity and has recently evolved to include three-dimensional objects that bring organic variations of painterly motifs into the exhibition space. She has recently attended residencies at Cité internationale des arts Paris and at the NARS Foundation in New York.

 

Laura Franzmann is a German artist based in Berlin. Her multifaceted works, encompassing painting, drawing, installation, and textile art, focus on the imaginary, often inhabited by mythical beings, animistic objects, and timeless landscapes. Themes of transformation and encounters with the unconscious are rooted in her practice, drawing on archetypal and mythological narratives to explore the transitions between different levels of being and consciousness.
